Diversity and Inclusion

The Department of Pathology and Medicine is heavily invested in supporting faculty and students from groups historically underrepresented in medicine and science.

In accordance with Brown University’s Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine has developed its own plan focused on providing observerships and clinical rotations in pathology; participating in the nationwide Leadership Alliance; and outreach to high school students from the greater Providence area.

Deaprtment Initiatives

Summer Research Internship

This six-week summer enrichment program provides an opportunity for Rhode Island high school students from historically marginalized communities and economically disadvantaged backgrounds to explore careers in basic and translational scientific research within the medical field of pathology.

Diversity in Medicine Visiting Student Scholarship

The Diversity in Medicine Visiting Student Scholarship is a program co-sponsored by the Office of Belonging, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and The Warren Alpert Medical School's affiliated medical departments.
