Fellowship applicants with a very strong track record (typically MD/PhD but other intensive research training may be suitable) in research may apply for a two year research position to follow any of our 1 or 2 year clinical fellowships.This position, funded by the University, will allow the fellow to have an immersive experience in an approved, externally funded (typically NIH) laboratory located within the Division of Biology and Medicine at Brown, or any of its affiliated hospitals. The expectation is that the fellow will produce hypothesis-driven first-author papers, will maintain a presence within the clinical department at seminars and grand rounds, and will submit a mentored career scientist award (ie NIH K-08) in their second year. This position is designed for individuals with a deep commitment to an NIH-funded career in academic pathology.
