Fellowship Overview
The Brown Dermatology Dermatopathology Fellowship is a one-year, ACGME-accredited program designed for fellows who are board-eligible or board-certified in either Pathology or Dermatology.
The fellowship was established in 2021. The caseload is comprised of routine cases generated from Brown Dermatology and community practices around Rhode Island and the surrounding New England area. The Dermatopathology Division is part of the Department of Dermatology at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and fellows will spend their time between Rhode Island Hospital, Brown Dermatology, and the VA Medical Center as part of their dermatopathology training.
Pathology trained fellows will spend time in general dermatology at Brown Dermatology and VA Medical Center, including surgical, pediatric, and medical subspecialty clinics. Dermatology trained fellows will spend time in general pathology at Rhode Island Hospital and VA Medical Center, where they have the opportunity to experience pathology subspecialties, including hematopathology, cytopathology, and soft tissue pathology.
The fellowship will have graded clinical responsibilities. Our mission is reflective of the medical school's mission to support and promote the health of individuals and communities through innovative medical education programs, research initiatives, and clinical excellence in service to society and to improve the health and wellness of all.
